Named for Cuttyhunk, the smallest and farthest-flung of the Elizabeth Islands, where there are more sailboats than cars and the beaches are scattered with little treasures. The Cuttyhunk Charm Necklace gathers a few of those treasures in one piece, all found on Martha's Vineyard. At the center is a cockle shell in soft ivory with a warm peach blush, its fine ridges fanning out like a shell drawn by hand. It's flanked by two spiral shells speckled in caramel and rose, plus two cascading drops of graduated pearls, so the whole piece has a lovely, balanced symmetry.
Everything hangs from a gold link chain with just enough weight to feel substantial, letting the shells and pearls settle right along the collarbone. It's romantic without being precious, the kind of necklace that looks just as right with a linen shirt and a tan as it does with a slip dress at a fall wedding.
