The Taos Necklace
This scallop shell, found on Martha’s Vineyard, is mottled in chocolate, caramel, and cream, with dark bands running down every ridge like a tortoiseshell pattern. It’s strung directly onto a strand of turquoise-blue stone chips, repurposed from a vintage necklace found at the Round Top antiques fair in Texas, broken up here and there with tiny black and silver beads.
The piece pulls the coast and the desert together: a beachcomber’s shell on a strand that belongs in Santa Fe. It looks especially good against black, where the blue really stands out, and it’s just as easy with a white tee and denim in summer.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece, so the necklace you see is exactly the one you’ll receive.
