Everything here came off a beach. Four small shells in chalk and cream, ribbed and matte, alternating with three whole sea snails marbled in chocolate, black, and bone. The snails are the ones that catch people, since they're intact spirals rather than fragments, which is rare enough that finding three of a size takes a season's worth of walking.
They hang close together from a substantial oval-link chain, so the cluster sits in a shallow arc across the collarbone and knocks gently as you move.
